Good news for all the outdoor workers who must have always been worried about the delicacy of the Smartphones, keeping in mind the roughness and toughness of their job. Panasonic has reduced this worrying factor by adding in two new Panasonic tablet rather ‘Phablets’ to its series of rugged devices; designed especially for the field workers.
Panasonic Toughpad FZ-X1 and Toughpad FZ-E1 are handheld tablets which were first revealed publicly, at the MWC 2014, earlier this year back in February. These stumpy looking phablets are expected to hit the market in August with price range starting from $1799.
Toughpad FZ-E1 and Toughpad FZ-X1 both the phablets offer 5 inch screens, 1280 x 720 pixel anti-reflective and sunlight readable LCD displays with 10 point capacitive multi-touch input. These toughpads would be available with LTE or Wifi version.
The most amazing and attractive feature is that these rugged chunky phablets can withstand extreme temperatures. In extreme cold weather, the built-in heaters turn on automatically. Moreover, these durable handheld tablets can endure 10 foot drop onto solid concrete and can operate even after remaining in water for 30 minutes. What more could one wish for?!
Both the phablets have 2GB RAM and 32GB Internal storage. The Toughpad FZ-X1 is powered by Android 4.2.2 Jellybean and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 series 1.7GHz Quad Core processor. On the other hand, the Tough Pad FZ-E1 is Windows Embedded 8.1 and features Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 series 2.3GHz Quad Core processor.
The tablets have 1.3MP front cameras and 8MP rear cameras with flash. Battery used has a capacity of 6200mAh and is hot swappable as in; you can easily change the batteries while the device is running. Moreover, the talk time is 14 hours along with 1000 hours of standby time.
These tablets are quite heavy; weighing in at 15 ounces and 1.2 inch thick. But, do not judge these wonderful phablets just by their stumpy and chunky looks as, they have a platter full of toughness and ruggedness which surely is worth the cost!
